When it comes to Christmas table ideas – there’s no shortage of inspiration. You can be inspired by colours, by nature, by …the wine cellar?
When my friend, Vicki from Bubbly Side of Life asked me to decorate Christmas tables inspired by bottles of bubbly, I jumped at the chance. So fun, right?!
We created Christmas table settings for Champagne, Rosé and one based on the “Bubbly Side of Life” wine labels.
Pop the Champagne!
This Christmas table theme was all about being gold, glittery and a touch more traditional.
The Centerpiece
This Christmas table idea started with a natural linen table runner (with hints of gold thread). We then laid 2 evergreen swags on top. These we dressed up with sparkly ornaments, sprigs and golden pears. The glittery hurricane vase with a battery-operated candle and fairy lights provided the a shimmery soft glow.
The Place Setting
Because we really wanted the gold colours to pop (pun intended 😉 ), we didn’t use a tablecloth. Instead, we chose to let the dark wood of the table serve as a background and it really made the place setting stand out. To help make guests feel special, we used small gilded frames as place card holders, and a special chocolate treat (in the shape of champagne bottles !)
Joyful Hostess Tip: Instead of writing names, you could use an actual picture of your guest at each place setting.
Rosé all Day!
This Christmas table décor was all about being pretty in pink …or rosé. The idea was to create holiday décor that’s fun, festive and flirty!
The Centerpiece
This tablecloth’s swirly design was the perfect base because it looked like spilled blush wine (the horror, I know). Down the centre of the table, we loosely wove together some faux fur and sparkly netting. We scattered pink and gold ornaments and to keep it from being overly sweet, a few contrasting pops of blue. To create height, we put the sparkly gold tree on a small cake plate stand. Looking to add some pink & gold ornaments to your decor, here’s a quick tutorial on how we made the ones in the photo.
The Place Setting
Because the tablecloth had such a bold design, we kept the place setting rather simple by using white plates and rosy buffalo plaid charger plates (picked up at spring clearance sale). We topped off each place setting with a pink Christmas cracker. These are so entertaining and nowadays, you can find them in just about any colour combo to match your Christmas table décor.
Joyful Hostess Tip: Take advantage of seasonal clearance sales to find items that you can use at Christmas (i.e. ribbon, candles, vases etc.) My fave finds: black and purple at Halloween, pastels at Easter and red and white at 4th of July or Canada Day.
Ice Blue and Bubbly Christmas
The inspiration for this Christmas table setting came from the Bubbly Side of Life wine labels (see below). The colours and the snowflake design brought to mind an arctic winter wonderland – the kind where the ice is a light shade of blue.
The Centerpiece
On a simple blue tablecloth, we laid large snowflake decorations end to end to create a table runner. This polar bear made the ideal centrepiece in helping to convey the icy, winter theme (I mean, who doesn’t think polar bear when they think arctic?!)
Next, we scattered various Christmas ornaments in shades of blue and silver down the length of the table, added a string of fairy lights and finished with a dusting of fake snow. To help create visual interest and extra lighting we added votives and tall taper candles in simple silver holders.
The Place Setting
To keep the décor modern, we opted to keep the place setting simple using white plates and a small ornament on top to tie it all together.
Joyful Hostess Tip – to help keep your taper candles from falling over, heat the bottoms of the candle gently (until soft). Place in the holders while ends are warm and the candles will mold to shape of candle holder when cooled (helping them stay put)
All that’s left now is to pour the wine! Or if you want a holiday cocktail, I’ve got some festive recipes you may want to try, like Chocolate Eggnog Cocktail, Hint O’ Mint Martini, or a Vanilla Pomegranate festive drink!
