If you’re looking for a blended drink that’s not overly sweet and packs a refreshing punch – then this Frozen Negroni cocktail cocktail is just what you need.
if you know me then you know that if we go for drinks, I’m ordering up a classic Negroni.
And while I’m a super fan of the O.G. Negroni – I couldn’t resist trying this frozen version (a recipe I saw in the LCBO magazine) and I just had to make it for myself.
Even people who weren’t really fans of the original (gasp! I know how could they not!), loved this version.
The Campari and grapefruit juice lend the drink it’s bittersweet citrus flavour, while the vermouth and simple syrup help sweeten and soften it slightly. The combination is spectacular! (And I’m not just saying that because Negroni’s are my go-to cocktail. Here’s the OG (classic) Negroni recipe.
How to make a Frozen Negroni
- 2 oz gin
- 2 oz Campari
- 2 oz sweet vermouth
- 2 oz ruby red grapefruit juice
- 1 oz simple syrup (click here for recipe)
- 2 cups (500 mL) ice cubes
- Orange slices for garnish
This makes enough for 2 drinks but can be easily divided/multiplied to make more or less.
In a freezer safe container, add the gin, Campari, vermouth, juice and simple syrup. Stir and put in freezer overnight (or at least 5-6 hours). In blender, add the ice cubes and the Negroni slush you made earlier. Blend until smooth. Pour equally into 2 glass and garnish each with an orange slice.
Joyful Hostess Tip: Put glasses in the freezer for 20 mins before serving.
