This Christmas cocktail recipe is inspired by our traditional Christmas cookies – the Almond Biscotti!
It’s really not the holidays around here unless we’ve made a batch of these tasty, crumbly twice baked cookies. Now we can add this cocktail to the list too!
But don’t let the name fool you – this cocktail is anything but plain! It has a creamy, sweet almond flavour, a hint of espresso and the warm taste of nutmeg. The recipe is an adaptation of Taste and Tipple’s martini and we love this so much that it’s going to be a festive treat we’ll be serving guests all season long!
Ingredients:
1 oz Vanilla vodka
1 oz Disaronno Amaretto Velvet
1/4 oz. coffee liqueur
1/2 oz espresso coffee
1/4 oz nutmeg syrup*
Directions:
- Add all ingredients in cocktail shaker with ice.
- Shake and strain into coupe glass.
- Garnish with cinnamon and coffee beans.
*To make nutmeg syrup :
In saucepan add 4 whole nutmeg (cut in quarters), 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water. Bring to boil until sugar is fully dissolved. Remove from heat, leaving the nutmeg in sugar water. Once cool store in refrigerator in airtight container overnight to let flavour intensify. Strain and it’s ready to use. Will keep in airtight container in refrigerator for about 2 weeks.
Joyful Hostess Tip: Brush nutmeg syrup over vanilla cake for a tasty treat, or use a splash in your hot chocolate or it makes a great pancake topper!
