How to Make a Hot Gin Toddy

Hot gin toddy? I know it sounds weird but trust me; it’s so delicious, you’ll wonder why you didn’t try it sooner!

When it comes to enjoying a hot toddy, most people (including me) automatically think rum, bourbon or even whiskey. And those are all stellar combos but there was something so exquisitely spicy when I tried Wolfhead’s River’s End Gin. The gin itself had vibrant juniper notes, and subtle spices like cinnamon, cardamom and star anise and a touch of citrus.

With a gin like this, I couldn’t resist making a winter warmer.

I picture enjoying a hot mug (or 2) of this after Christmas Eve dinner or maybe even on a cold afternoon with a few cookies. I think this Snickerdoodle recipe would be the perfect accompaniment!

If you’re having a crowd (remember Christmas parties?), you could make it ahead of time and leave it on the stove or in your slow cooker. Then, when you’re ready, just add the gin and garnish.  It’s a nice touch to be able to offer guests something cozy to drink.

And, if you’re looking for another festive gin drink (something cold and bubbly) –check out this Cranberry Gin Christmas Cocktail.
