Today we’re combining my love of theatre and cocktails and I’m showing you how to make a 42nd Street martini.
While I’m not sure the exact reason behind this martini’s name – a quick google search will tell you that 42nd Street is known for its theaters, especially near the intersection with Broadway at Times Square in Manhattan.
42nd Street is also the name of a musical (that’s a lot of fun, btw!), set in 1933, that tells the story of a small-town girl from Middle America trying to make it on Broadway.
Don’t let the list of ingredients fool you – this elegant martini is smooth with warm, citrus notes and an ideal cocktail for a poker night or an after dinner wind down.
Ingredients
- 1 1/3 oz Bourbon (I used Woodford Reserve Bourbon)
- 1/3 oz Grand Marnier
- 1/3 oz Cointreau
- 1/3 oz dry vermouth (I used Martini Vermouth)
- Lemon twist
- Maraschino cherry
Directions
- In a glass with ice, combine the Bourbon, Grand Marnier, Cointreau and Vermouth.
- Stir and strain into a martini glass.
- Garnish with lemon twist and cherry.
