How to make a Limoncello Spritz Cocktail

The taste of this Limoncello Spritz Cocktail will whisk you away to sunny shores of Southern Italy. The first time I tried this fizzy, lemony cocktail we were in Amalfi taking a sightseeing break. Such a delicious way to beat the heat!

After that trip, this cocktail has become of my summer entertaining. It’s citrusy, vibrant and a refreshing treat to serve guests. And for those that aren’t’ big fans of the slightly more bitter and orange-y Aperol Spritz , they tend to enjoy this lemony version better.

The Limoncello Spritz is what Italians call an “aperativo”.  The “aperativo” is a cocktail you’d typically enjoy before dinner (between 5-8pm) to “stimulate the appetite.” It’s usually served with a few light snacks like crostini, or charcuterie.

I just love the Italian “aperativo” custom of getting together with friends after a busy day, relaxing and having great conversation over a glass of wine or cocktails and a few nibbles.
